Peter Michael Les Pavots 2009
âLâEsprit des Pavotsâ (les-spree dey pah-voh) is French for âThe Spirit of the Poppies.â First produced in the 2001 vintage, the wine was sourced solely from our Les Pavots vineyard and affectionately referred to as the âlittle brotherâ of our flagship wine. With the 2016 vintage, select lots from our Oakville Estate were introduced to the blend. The wine is typically more fruit-forward and early-drinking than âLes Pavotsâ or âAu Paradis,â but remains a true expression of the Peter Michael styleâbalanced, elegant, and age-worthy.

96 Wine Advocate
It exhibits a distinctive truffle, chocolate, blackberry and cassis-scented bouquet, a full-bodied mouthfeel, and fabulous concentration, purity and density. This magnificent effortâs open-knit style was surprising as most Northern California 2009s made from Bordeaux varietals are somewhat austere and closed at present.
95 Wine Spectator
Offers a strikingly complex mix of flavors that are refined and graceful. Pure, rich and supple given its level of intensity and concentration, with a beautiful core of ripe wild berry, pomegranate, spice, mineral, cedar and graphite. Holding back ever so slightly. Another classic Les Pavots.
