Michters Small Batch Unblended American Whiskey 2014
Michters Small Batch Unblended American Whiskey Bottled 2014
Whiskey author Fred Minnick has confirmed in his book, Bourbon Curious that the source of Michter's current Kentucky labelled products are sourced from Brown-Forman. The source of the whiskies in this 2016 bottling are unclear but would make for a great addition to any whisky tasting.
Distiller Notes:
Unlike Bourbon or Rye, which, by definition, must be aged in new oak barrels, Michter's US1 Unblended American Whiskey is aged in a way that utilizes whiskey-soaked barrels to achieve a rich and unique flavor profile. In late 2013, then Master Distiller Willie Pratt agreed to re-release US1 Unblended American Whiskey after a nearly three-year absence from the market, deeming it âjust rightâ and âthe best itâs ever been.â Crucially, Michter's US1 Unblended American Whiskey never contains grain neutral spirits â hence its âunblendedâ distinction.
Critical Acclaim:
94 Wine Enthusiast
This small-batch whiskey is a treat, butter-soft and loaded with sweet toffee and hazelnut aromas and flavors. The long finish rolls toward dry espresso and mocha flavors, pepped up with clove and cinnamon.
